Our little princess; the tiniest one of the family is already three and the time to move to her own room has arrived. Our biggest boys are moving to another room, the teens room, and the official children room of the house now is hosting the two little ones of the family: Tore and Edda

The idea of a new decoration and a new atmosphere for this room has been in my head for quiet long time, lots of thoughts full of inspiration and mini projects for this special place. I wanted Something classical and delicate but not too extreme, something rustic and romantic but not too shabby, something playful and comfy but not too minimal.

My main idea was to create a place where obviously my kids will feel comfy and happy but mostly a place that invites to dream. A place that helps their magic imagination to fly and flourish, a harmonious and cosy place for such sacred and special time in life that is childhood.

So for a place like this it was mandatory to decorate the walls with wallpapers and to find the perfect one was very easy, there was a dream wallpaper that the famous Swedish brand Boråstappeter releashed in their 2020 Collection, since I saw this paper I knew I wanted for the kids room it was a love at first sight and I think that I´ve never seen any childish wall paper more beautiful than this one, every detail was drawn with the most of the fragility and beauty, illustrations that transport you to the fauna and flora of the magical forests of Sweden and to an old tale illustrated up to the level of some legendary artists like Beatrix Potter, Margaret Tarrant and C.M Barker.

The wallpaper was the main element to continue decorating following it essence. This paper itself is that beautiful that just an empty room with it would be wonderfully, but is true as well that adding furnitures and fabrics were exalting even more the beauty of it.

The majority of the furnitures that we choose for the room are antique and second hand, we just kept the Ikea "Stuva" wardroves and the Trofast storing furniture since they are very practical and good quality we decided to hack them and blend them with the rest of furnitures. You can see both hacks in the room tour video bellow.

I painted the furnitures with different tones of neutral pastel greens and beiges, sand and mocha.

Evoking the colors of the old French countryside cottages very present as well in the Swedish traditional furnitures thanks to the king Gustav III, that introduced a clear French influence in the architecture, decoration and crafts of the Swedish homes.

The fabrics that I choose are mainly the same tones but adding some colours in duvets and quilts were I choose a liberty style ones with delicate floral patterns. Some of the textile elements are made by hand by me, like the two Canopies over the tiny beds and the little curtain in the Trofast furniture.

When buying Decor items I went to my fave brands which their products are very much in the same style and aesthetic I wanted for this room. I used as well second hand vintage items too. I made a little list that you can read bellow of the items brands and the shops were I bought them.

For Storing Toys I used mainly baskets, paper and wooden boxes.

We have a very nice book collection that I started when my big Girls were little, with old Fairytales and classic authors, beautiful Illustrations and special stories. I decided to make a little reading corner for the kids where they can sit read their books and dream. I decorated it inspired by the princess and the pea tale recreating the princess bed with many mini mattres and each one with different patterns.

I wanted a room that invites my kids to dream, that make my kids to feel comfortable and loved a place full of harmony and beauty, I think the result is very close to that. I hope you enjoy it and get much inspo from the pictures and the room tour vídeo bellow !!!
